Ernest Martinez is a percussionist and multi-instrumentalist from Fresno, California. He was fortunate enough to grow up in a musical household, as his father and his father’s close friends were all musicians. Martinez developed an early love for the drums and percussion, leading to an affinity to the rhythm section as a whole. Although he has specialized as a percussionist, studying under Joe Lizama, drummer for the Dave Matthews Band, George Ramirez, and Regina Jimenez, Martinez has developed proficient technical skill on bass, guitar, and piano, studying under Mike Dana, Larry Honda, and Dr. Brandon Bascom. When not teaching, Martinez has been known to play with Malo, a latin rock band based out of San Fransisco.
Multi-instrumentalist, Giovann Najeh Mena is the front man of the local Fresno band Puppet. With 15 years of performing experience, he has studied with many recognized music instructors and educators such as Kevin Cooper, Mike Dana, Catherine Cooper, and Bobbi Westfield. He has taught for Kidmunity, Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning Center, and The Learning Village. Currently, Gio serves as the general music teacher at Western Sierra Charter Schools, where he was recently awarded Educator of the Week from KSEE24. Fluent in most popular genres, he continues to study music and is looking forward to completing the credential program at Fresno State University.
